The role
As an Audit Senior Manager, you will take responsibility for managing and overseeing audit assignments from planning through to completion. You will maintain client relationships, ensuring efficient communication and the timely completion of work. You will review the work completed by your team, prepare and monitor budgets, and ensure all auditing standards and guidelines are adhered to. Alongside this, you will take a proactive role in developing and implementing improved procedures to enhance workflow and team performance.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage and prioritise audit and account assignments, ensuring timely completion and adherence to deadlines.
* Act as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring clear communication and addressing client queries.
* Supervise and review the work of junior staff, providing feedback and guidance.
* Prepare budgets, monitor actuals against targets, and investigate any variances.
* Take charge of billing and ensure budgets are adhered to.
* Ensure compliance with auditing and accounting standards.
* Address team performance and personnel matters, promoting a positive and productive work environment.
* Liaise with Managers, Directors, and other departments to ensure seamless service delivery.
* Handle administrative and ad hoc tasks to support the smooth running of the department.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
* Qualified Accountant: ACCA/equivalent qualified accountant.
* Audit Practice Experience: Extensive experience in audit and accounts practice, including a deep understanding of regulatory obligations and quality standards.
* Risk Assessment: Experience in identifying and assessing risks and implementing effective controls.
* Client Management: Strong client relationship management skills with an ability to build and maintain long-term relationships.
* Leadership and Management - Building and leading and efficient team by motivating and supporting individuals. Strategic thinking and planning for the future. The ability and enthusiasm to willingly identify and develop the potential in others and to achieve the aims of the firm.
* Technical Knowledge: Up-to-date knowledge of relevant accounting and auditing standards, including FRS and IFRS.
* Problem-Solving: Ability to identify issues, analyse data, and propose solutions to ensure efficient workflow and audit processes.
* Software: Experience using both caseware and CCH would be advantageous, although not essential.
