Health and Safety Coordinator £40k-£45k per annum Monday Friday Chester Our client based in the Chester is currently recruiting a Health and Safety Coordinator on a permanent basis. As the Health and Safety Coordinator you will be responsible for promoting, maintaining and developing all Health & Safety Activities at our client. Assisting the Department Manager with H&S compliance, H&S training, environmental management, driving continuous improvement around all aspects of H&S and environmental management. Performance Objectives Planning, organising, implementing, auditing, monitoring, reviewing H&S procedures. Managing, monitoring and ensuring the corrective action log is up to date and actions are closed out. Completing safety audits, ensuring the schedule is up to date and actions/breaches closed out. Complete inspections of shadow boards, first aid supplies, fire equipment, racking damages, fire doors and PPE. Monitor, review the risk assessment program. Complete all risk assessments with relevant Line Managers as per schedule. Ensure that all risk assessments are logged, and actions completed within timescales. Arrange regular meetings with departmental managers to discuss the progress of actions. Improve/develop and manage inductions, permits to work, evidence of competence and competency records. Driving continual improvement programs, through training/up-skilling to ensure achievement of the Health, Safety and environment agenda. Identify, prioritise and maintain the H&S training system, database, documentation, ensuring the organisation is compliant against H & S training. Weekly fire alarm testing. Issuing and recording of PPE, stock takes and ordering within agreed budget threshold. Participate actively in the monthly SHE meetings, ensuring engagement from all stakeholder depts. Ensure that robust documentation is complete, available and compliant for customer and regulatory bodies for audits & visits. Assist the SHE Manager in developing a behavioural safety programme. Ensure Fire Safety standards are maintained and fire risk assessments completed. Coach the Shift Managers and Senior Leadership team to develop their health, safety and environmental knowledge, awareness of their responsibilities and adopt best practice. Support health, safety and environmental training initiatives, identify training needs and identify training solutions as required (e.g., manual handling, induction, COSHH, lOTO, safe systems of work, toolbox talks etc). Work closely with internal functions to effectively deliver the health & safety and environmental agenda. Manage and maintain the company crisis management plan. Ensure all accidents and incidents are investigated and actioned appropriately. Data collection and preparation of reports to monitor performance of accidents, incidents & near misses. Support the maintenance of the Environmental Management System (ISO14001:15) and Zero Waste to Landfill Certification, ensuring full compliance against the standards. Ensure aspects & impacts register, internal EMS auditing. Assist the SHE Manager with the monitoring and submission of emissions (all scopes). Manage waste, ensuring full compliance against all aspects. Complete internal environmental audit against various functions, including the EMS system. Person Specification NEBOSH General Certificates in occupational H&S and Environmental Management is required for this role. Experience of operating in manufacturing environment (food manufacturing experience and an awareness of food safety legislation). Able to identify trends, patterns around accidents/incidents/near misses and apply root cause analysis and critical thinking to resolve problems. Experience in ISO systems such as ISO14001:15 & ISO45001. Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to build relationships and influence at all levels. Computer literate with experience of MS packages, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Organised, methodical, systematic with an eye for detail. Team player with experience of cross functional team working. Relentless/tenacious/proactive in follow up with the ability to close the loop.
