To provide a comprehensive administrative service to identified medical teams within the Salford Directorate. The post holder will act as a PA for consultant and support for others and potential line management of junior medical secretary where appropriate.
The Medical Secretary will undertake general office duties including the typing of medical and other correspondence and actioning any requirements identified within the typing. They will be responsible for the management of administrative duties within their area of work including ensuring the allocation of discharge summaries and their timely completion, updating and circulating the on-call rota as required, answering and managing calls from patients and their carers / relatives and other health and social care professionals.
They will be responsible for supporting the Trust in achieving relevant performance targets
Undertake audio and clerical duties for your consultants, including minute taking as required, clinical letters, reports, discharge correspondence and clinical activity data inputting. This may include administrative support relating to consultant tutorial work.
Provide first point of contact for written and telephone enquiries on behalf of your consultant, using judgement to establish validity and priority of the contact.
Deal with any admission enquiries using judgement and observing patient confidentiality at all times.
