These challenges need the bold science we support, but they won’t be solved by science alone We are looking for a Data Insights Manager to join the team. Where in Wellcome will I be working? You will be working in the Data Insights team that sits in the wider Digital and Technology team. You will join an interdisciplinary team of data analysts, data visualisation specialists, product managers, qualitative researchers, software engineers, data engineers, data scientists and designers. We all work together in supporting Wellcome’s mission to address worldwide health challenges. What will I be doing? You will be leading a workstream and/or complex projects and providing technical leadership and strategic direction for other members of our Data Insights team, driving innovation, learning, improvement and delivery. You’ll love working with data and tackling challenging problems. You will work with key stakeholders to translate their requirements into analytics solutions, using your data & analytics skills to build data products and deliver robust insights to inform decision making at all levels of the organisation. As a Data Insights Manager you will : Line manage - build, manage, lead and motivate an integrated, inclusive and flexible team, ensuring that people with the right range of skills and experience are recruited and retained, and that their skills and professional capabilities are maximised Advocate for the use of data & analytics throughout Wellcome, making current analysis more accessible, identifying barriers to uptake and stimulating demand for new analysis Manage a multi-disciplinary workstream or project team, and communicate clearly with team members, senior management and stakeholders on progress Address complex problems the organisation is trying to solve through scoping solutions, determining appropriate and innovative qualitative and/or quantitative methods and applying these Effectively and clearly communicate technical findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, shaping documentation, reports and dashboards to support the dissemination of research, analysis and insights Understand the ethical impact of any analysis undertaken and ensure that diversity and inclusion is always considered in how work is undertaken, the data being used and what analysis demonstrates Is this role for me? To succeed in this role you will have : Numerate background and exceptional data analysis skills, including the ability to handle a variety of complex datasets Basic knowledge in all the following areas, with expertise in some and knowledge of when to apply which methods: Excel modelling Knowledge of statistical modelling, methods and techniques Data visualisation skills and tools (e.g. Tableau) Data manipulation skills and tools Knowledge of data science techniques (e.g. text analytics) and tools Social research methods, focus groups, workshops, survey design and key informant interviews Substantial experience with all stages of the data analysis process (problem identification and structuring, data collection and storage, data investigation and exploratory analysis, data cleaning and manipulation, analysis and modelling, visualisation and communication) Strong project management experience – from conception to development to delivery, with the ability to motivate, develop and influence teams Enthusiasm to continue to learn new skills, tools and techniques, and to share your knowledge with others in the team Understanding of the science (life/social), public health, innovation or policy sector and/or an ability to get up to speed quickly on a breadth of science and research policy issues To apply please upload your current CV and complete our short application Interview dates: W/C 17th Feb You can view the full job description on our website You can read more about the benefits we offer our employees on our website Our Hybrid Way of Working We understand that our colleagues have commitments and personal interests outside of work and we strive to build a flexible working environment, in which people can perform at their best.
