Speirs Gumley are seeking experienced Credit Controllers to pursue and control a portfolio of client accounts. The candidate should have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a relevant credit control position and ideally be familiar with the following areas:
1. Scottish legal system - Debt Recovery and enforcement action (Simple procedure, Ordinary Actions and enforcement of Decrees)
2. Relevant property based law - (Title Conditions (Scotland) Act 2003, Tenements (Scotland) Act 2004, Notices of Potential Liability for Costs)
3. Insolvency - Trust Deeds, Bankruptcy, Liquidation
4. Property Factors (Scotland) Act 2011 principles and the requirements of Property Factors (Scotland) Act, Code of Conduct 2012
The successful candidate will be confident and assertive, possessing good communication skills and have an ability to deal with stressful situations in a diplomatic and empathetic manner wherever required. They will be used to working in a high-paced, high-volume billing environment as part of a team, working under the direction of the Head of Credit Control. They will often be required to work on their own initiative dealing with specific project caseloads, managing them out to a successful conclusion in partnership with colleagues and relevant debt recovery agents. Previous or current experience of working in a property management environment would be advantageous.
The role will involve:
1. Outbound calling and emailing in pursuit of arrears
2. Performing scheduled routines for reminders and targeted actions
3. Reviewing daily payment postings and updating client accounts
4. Dealing with inbound calls and email queries from clients, solicitors and other third parties
5. Providing debt reports to property management team
6. Identifying debts which are potentially irrecoverable and highlighting to Head of Credit Control
7. Meeting regularly with Property management team to discuss cases of concern
