About the Role
As a Teacher of Philosophy, you will:
* Deliver engaging philosophy lessons, in English, to students aged 16-18, following the European Baccalaureate curriculum.
* Foster the skills of critical thinking, analytical skills, and philosophical inquiry.
* Create an inclusive classroom environment where every student’s talent is nurtured.
* Collaborate with a team of passionate educators to support a thriving philosophy programme.
* Guide students in developing structured reasoning, argumentation, and essay-writing skills essential for the European Baccalaureate examination.
* Assess students’ progress through formative and summative evaluations, including coursework, oral presentations, and written exams.
* Collaborate with colleagues in the philosophy and humanities departments to develop interdisciplinary learning experiences.
* Attend and participate in departmental meetings, professional development sessions, and European School-related training.
* For the right candidate, the position may include the head of department role, subject to a selection process.
* Full training and support will be provided to help the right candidate adapt to the requirements of the European Baccalaureate curriculum

The salary is a minimum of €3463, a maximum of €5277 for a full-time contract on the LB scale. The salary scale and the step offered will depend on your level of experience. The salary will be pro-rata for par time positions.

What We’re Looking For
* A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Philosophy (First-degree/Eerste graads) and full teaching qualification for Secondary Education (recognized by the Dutch Education Authorities (DUO).
* Excellent English (C2 level).
* The ability to speak other European languages is desirable, but not essential. There could be a possiblity to additionally teach Philosophy in German or Dutch if a suitable candidate is found
* Experience of teaching in international (A Level, IB or other equivalent diploma programme) or intercultural settings is desirable.
* A creative, inclusive approach to teaching and a willingness to contribute to extra-curricular activities.
