Clinical Nurse Specialist - Eosinophilic Oesophagitis/Upper GI
We are recruiting for a Clinical Nurse Specialist who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.
As a nurse specialist, you will be supporting and developing the trust eosinophilic oesophagitis (EOE) service (60%) with an additional role in diagnostic upper GI endoscopic procedures (up to 40%). Training will be provided for both parts of this role according to prior experience.
The trust has a rapidly expanding cohort of approximately 300 patients with EOE who are now cohorted under a lead Consultant. The role will involve supporting patients via the dedicated email support network, coordinating with emergency and ENT departments and the Gastroenterology team to help identify patients early after bolus obstruction, helping maintain an active database and timely appointments, supporting the research team in current and future EOE studies and clinical audit, liaising with the early diagnosis capsule sponge team.

Main duties of the job
You, in conjunction with the lead consultant, will manage:
1. Eosinophilic oesophagitis (EoE) - ongoing development of the EOE service at East and North Herts
2. Nurse run EOE clinic (tele/face to face)
3. Develop dietary therapy service with existing team and local Dieticians
4. Email based patient support line and development of patient information materials
5. Support EOE research and Audit
6. Diagnostic Endoscopy service lists (once trained). Weekend service lists may be required.

Person Specification
Qualifications / Training
* First level degree or equivalent experience / knowledge
* Evidence of continuous professional development
* Teaching or mentoring qualification
* Graduate diploma or MSC in nursing or equivalent higher professional qualifications in nursing/Specialist area
* Post registration qualification in specialty or willingness to complete
* Advanced communication course/or willingness to be trained
Previous Experience
* Relevant experience in Gastroenterology/Endoscopy
* Evidence of mentorship/preceptorship roles
* Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
* Accept personal accountability for own practice
* Understanding of evidence-based practice
* Understanding and knowledge of specialist field some knowledge of Gastroenterology or Endoscopy
* Experience of formal/informal teaching
* Understanding of Clinical Governance
Skills
* Independent JAG accredited Upper GI Endoscopist or willingness to undertake the training
* Good verbal and written communication skills
* Capable of working as an integral member of a small team
