Estimating Lead
Position Overview:
As a Joinery Estimating Lead you will be responsible for accurately estimating project costs related to joinery works. You will collaborate closely with our project management and sales teams, as well as liaise with suppliers and subcontractors, to ensure accurate and well-informed bids and proposals. Your attention to detail, industry expertise, and strong organisational skills will be essential to your success in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
* Cost Estimation: Utilise your expertise in joinery and construction to assess project requirements, review architectural drawings, and quantify materials needed for each project.
* Generate detailed cost estimates that encompass labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
* Material Procurement: Collaborate with our procurement team to source accurate pricing for joinery materials. Maintain relationships with suppliers, negotiate pricing, and ensure materials are sourced cost-effectively without compromising quality.
* Bid Preparation: Prepare detailed and competitive bids and proposals, ensuring all project requirements and specifications are met. Communicate effectively with clients regarding costing and proposal details.
* Cost Management: Work closely with the project management team to track and control costs throughout the project lifecycle. Provide accurate and timely updates on budget variances, cost-saving opportunities, and potential risks.
* Documentation: Maintain accurate and organised records of all estimation-related activities, including contracts, drawings, quotes, and correspondence. Ensure all documents are readily accessible and up to date.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Previous experience as a joinery estimator or similar role within the construction industry.
* Demonstrable knowledge of joinery materials, manufacturing processes, and installation methods.
* Strong numerical and analytical skills, with keen attention to detail.
* Proficient in using estimating software and tools to facilitate accurate estimations.
* Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with clients, suppliers, and internal teams.
* Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver timely and precise estimates.
* Self-motivated and driven, with a meticulous approach to work.
* Knowledge of industry regulations, local building codes, and health and safety standards.
* Experience within the construction industry and conversant with standard operating procedures and methods
* Working knowledge of contractual terms and conditions commonly applied by Main Contractors.
