We are currently recruiting for a Multi Skilled Operative to join our amazing team at our Tarmac Coxhoe Asphalt Plant in Durham. As well as Durham, this role is easily accessible from Bishop Auckland, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Stockton-on-Tees, Darlington, Newton Aycliffe, Chester-le-Street, Peterlee, Washington, Sunderland and the surrounding areas.
Coxhoe is a 24 hour Asphalt Plant. The standard work pattern is 6am – 4pm (dayshift) and 6pm – 4am (nightshift). Predominantly the role would be working days however during the periods where we also running a night shift you will be required to work alternate weeks of days and nights.

Role Responsibility
Reporting directly to the Section Manager the duties of the Multi Skilled Operative will include the day-to-day operations of either fixed or mobile plant. The asphalt plant operator will work with an internal team to plan the mixing program, they will ensure that stocks are maintained and replenished in good time.
Your role as a Multi Skilled Operative will include (not exhaustive):
1. Mixing asphalt to specification
2. Working with other members of the team to ensure that customers get good quality material and on-time deliveries
3. Weighbridge duties
4. Loading shovel (mobile Plant)
5. Assisting the Manager with meeting daily/weekly production targets
6. Ensuring Plant conforms with safety requirements at all times
7. Following Health, Safety and Environmental and Quality policies and procedures
8. Inspections on the Plant and acting on defects and implement remedial action
9. Assisting in the maintenance regime of the Plant
10. Ensuring that Plant availability is maximised
11. Working to keep housekeeping around site to a high standard
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for the role of Multi Skilled Operative will be able to demonstrate proven experience working within an Industrial, Factory or similar environment as an operative or labourer. As well as possessing good communication skills and have a real desire in developing both operative and supervisory skills.
To succeed in this role we would expect a candidate to evidence:
12. Knowledge of Plant
13. Shovel License – desirable
14. Good timekeeping – flexible as to the Units requirements
15. Good communication skills – bringing problems to the attention of Line Management
16. Previous experience in mobile Plant operations
17. Full UK Driving Licence
18. IT Literate
Previous experience as a Multi Skilled Operative working in an Asphalt Plant would prove highly beneficial however this is not essential as training will be given to the right candidate.
