Role Overview
The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for managing all commercial aspects of assigned water infrastructure projects. The role involves working collaboratively with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure projects are delivered within budget while maintaining the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Contract Review: Review contract documents and advise on any issues
* Financial Tracking: Track the progress and cash flow forecast information
* Commercial Reporting: Produce and review commercial forecasts, Cost Value Reconciliation (CVRs) and Project Finance Reports
* Subcontract Management: Take responsibility for Subcontract Forecasting, raising Subcontractor Orders and Negotiating Subcontract terms
* Subcontractor Procurement: Prepare subcontract documents, enquiries and assessment of quotations
* Subcontractor Administration: Place subcontract orders, agreement and certification of subcontract valuations, invoice, subcontract payments and final account agreements
* Change Control: Be responsible for the management of the change control process, risk and value management
* Variation Management: Manage and track project changes, variations and/or notices
* Client Applications: Prepare and submit interim valuations and payment applications to clients, along with the agreement of final accounts
* Client Meetings: Attend risk review, progress and commercial meetings on-site with the Client
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
* HNC/HND/BSc in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or equivalent qualification
* Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor, preferably in water infrastructure or civil engineering
* Proven experience with NEC forms of contract
* Strong understanding of construction costs, measurement, and estimating principles
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
* Proficiency in commercial management software and MS Office applications
* UK driving license and willingness to travel to project sites
Desirable
* Experience in water industry or utilities sector
* Knowledge of sustainability principles in construction
