Purpose of the Role:
You will be part of a large team of skilled machinists working at pace to deliver precision engineered metallics, driving performance on track throughout the season. You will use your skills and experience to support Manufacturing Engineering and Planning to optimise the flow of work into the Machine Shop from concept design to work acceptance and beyond. Providing value-add activities that ensure an efficient, robust flow of car components, pit equipment, and wind tunnel parts through the workshop to maximise our performance with respect to our OEE targets. Role Dimensions:
It is your responsibility to maintain robust processes within our Machine Shop that deliver the process of work acceptance and job pack creation to drive (RFTIF) right first time, in full. Ahead of work acceptance you will work with Manufacturing Engineering and Planning to boost the quality and accuracy of our route cards. Subsequently you will oversee and accept work packets into the shop with respect to the project plan ensuring that the job pack content collated and released to Machine Shop is clear, concise and promotes flow, to support our OEE targets, component quality and collaboration between departments.
Principal Accountabilities:
1. Work with the planning and Manufacturing Engineering Teams to schedule and accept work into the Machine Shop respecting the project planning and available capacity
2. Working shoulder to shoulder with our Shift Leads and Team Leaders to support the delivery of (RFTIF) right first time, in full
3. Deliver work acceptance into the shop with reliable and consistent set and run times estimates
4. Support Manufacturing Engineering to ensure that raw material requirements are known and considered at the earliest opportunity
5. Support Manufacturing Engineering to ensure that long lead items such as gauges, bespoke cutters and fixtures are identified, and a robust plan generated to ensure their timely arrival to Machine Shop
6. Play a critical role in the review of final set up and run times to support future planning estimates and drive improvement projects, including (NPI) new part introduction and revision for repeat components.
7. Communicate critical information and project opportunities to our Process Engineers
8. Provide support, ideas, and data to enhance the development of our MRP & MES systems
9. Provide feedback to support monthly team meetings, including operational achievements, risks, issues, and opportunities
Job requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
10. Experience of working in a high technological small batch precision engineering or manufacturing environment
11. Proven track record of cross functional liaison and delivery management
12. Has developed and participated in a team-orientated environment
13. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
14. Excellent knowledge of MRP and MES systems
15. Experience of introducing new working practices to achieve world class manufacturing status
16. Understanding of Continuous Improvement Methodologies and Control Mechanisms

McLaren Racing is based at the iconic McLaren Technology Centre (MTC) near Woking.
