A Library Assistant is a first point of contact for users of the library.
Library Assistants deal with the public in person, and on the telephone, answering enquiries, assisting them in using the self-service machines, and public computers, staffing the council information point, and sign posting to other agencies.
This post is a casual position to cover staff absences on an ad-hoc basis, at Macclesfield and Bollington Libraries.
If you are committed to providing excellent customer service and can contribute cheerfully and positively to an efficient, quality library service then Cheshire East Libraries could be the place for you.
We currently have a vacancy for a Casual Library Assistant to cover for absences, sometimes at short notice, at Macclesfield and Bollington Libraries.
You will need to demonstrate an interest in people, information, books and lifelong learning. You should also have a willingness to engage with individuals of all ages and backgrounds and have experience of working in a customer-facing environment.
The role involves shelving returned books, issuing items, helping people use the self-service machines and the public access computers, staffing the customer service point and assisting with events for adults and children. The post is a casual position and hours will be on an ad hoc basis to cover for annual leave and sickness in Macclesfield and Bollington Libraries.
