Long Term Futures are seeking a compassionate and proactive Teaching Assistant to support a Year 2 pupil with ASD at a welcoming primary school in Hammersmith, W12. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant or a graduate with a passion for SEN to make a real difference in a child's educational journey.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 support to a Year 2 pupil with ASD, tailoring learning activities to their individual needs.
- Assist with communication development using visual aids, timetables, and other strategies.
- Help the child stay focused and engaged in lessons, promoting positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
- Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCo to implement and adapt personalised learning plans.
- Support the child during unstructured times such as play and lunchtime to encourage social interaction.
- Maintain a calm, consistent, and nurturing learning environment.
About You:
- Previous experience supporting children with ASD or other special educational needs.
- Confident using visual resources and strategies to aid learning and communication.
- A patient, calm, and empathetic approach to supporting young learners.
- Willingness to assist with personal care tasks if needed.
- A relevant qualification in education or SEN is advantageous but not essential.
