Job overview
The post holder will support the clinical nurse specialists in MS. The role includes working as part of a multidisciplinary team to facilitate the care of patients with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in inpatient units, outpatient clinics and in the community.
The post holder will work closely and supportively with the Clinical Nurse Specialists and directly with the Department teams. This will improve nursing practice; improve staff morale and patient experience.
Interviews will take place on 3rd April at Amersham Hospital.
Main duties of the job
1. Support the MS Clinical Nurse Specialists managing a caseload of patients receiving MS therapies.
2. Ensure that patients and their families are fully informed of the therapies and supported by providing clinical and social support.
3. Provide a high quality of care to patients with MS.
4. Assist in the development of evidence-based clinical nursing practice in line with current research and guidelines.
5. Work together with the MS Consultant Neurologists, medical unit staff and the MS Clinical Nurse Specialists.
6. Establish clear lines of communication within the specialty team to ensure cohesive multidisciplinary management of patients.
7. Assist with provision of MS treatments in inpatient/day unit setting.
8. Provide an in-reach service for people with Multiple Sclerosis and staff within an inpatient setting.

Person specification
* 4 years post-registration experience.
* Venepuncture and cannulation course.
* Neurology experience.
* Significant experience at a Band 5/6 nursing level.
* Ability to manage own caseload.
* Demonstrate an understanding of MS and current therapies.
* Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Adaptable and responsive to changing needs.
* Able to use own initiative.
* Demonstrates a caring and sensitive approach to patients.
* Good team worker.
* The post holder will be required to work across all sites and will be required to travel between sites. Car driver - access to a car.
