Duties will involve the opening of Nelson Town Hall and Number One Market Street, assisting with fire alarm testing, as well as helping to run Elections and civic events, and printing agendas and other important documents.
The hours of the post are Monday to Friday, 06.45am till 12.45pm (30 hours per week). However, the successful candidate will need to be flexible in working hours, adaptable to deal with a range of different requirements.
The successful applicant will also provide cover for assisting the Mayor which often take place during the evenings and weekends. This will involve chauffeuring the Mayor to functions driving the Council’s civic car. A full, current driving licence is therefore essential. Additional payments will be made when undertaking this additional duty.
The successful applicant should have physical abilities to carry out the duties of the role, e.g. bending lifting, moving tables / chairs and climbing stepladders.
The willingness to work additional hours, sometimes at short notice, is also an essential requirement.
