Job Description:
We have a new, exciting opportunity for a Data Driven & AI Specialist, to work in a specialist unit within our Aircraft Systems Integration (ASI) function at our Helicopter Division, based in Yeovil.
As Data Driven & AI Specialist you will work in a cross functional and geographical, multi-disciplinary team environment to support the development of physics based modelling approaches used in engineering design & analysis and the development of data driven AI surrogate models starting both from numerical analysis and/or experimental data. You will apply Agile techniques in order to coordinate dedicated scrum teams acting as Scrum Master or product owner.
Placed within our engineering function this role requires you to have the ability to adapt quickly to understand new problems in design disciplines across Aircraft Systems Integration (ASI).
The role presents opportunities to travel to both Italy and Germany.
What you'll do as a Data Driven & AI Specialist:
1. Provide technical subject expertise for technical activities across engineering projects, including design, analysis, assessment, testing, modelling, simulation and qualification of aircraft and software
2. Apply specialist expertise to develop the skills, methods, tools, processes and practices required to improve the tasks in your area of responsibility
3. Develop the capability of the rotorcrafts and systems, in line with company strategic aims, through research and development of technologies, methods and engineering skills
4. Understand the requirements of engineering activities and to carry out the activities required to demonstrate airworthiness of the company's products, including continued airworthiness
5. Perform engineering tests that comply with required processes and procedures, to produce valid engineering data to support the design and qualification process
What we need from you:
1. Degree in Master of Science or a relevant engineering field and/or experience in Data analytics and Data Science/Machine Learning
2. Basic knowledge of physics based modelling approaches utilised in engineering design & analysis
3. Working understanding of AI, or a keen interest in the subject
4. Proficiency in computer programming/software development
5. Project management skills & ability to work in cross-functional multi-disciplinary team environments
6. A proactive attitude to learning and investigating, along with strong mathematics & coding skills
7. Ability to follow well defined engineering processes
