GB Railfreight are seeking a Project Engineer expereinced in Rail Freight who will work to support other members within the team and across the business to successfully roll out the European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS) within the company. This role provides an exciting opportunity to play a vital part in the delivery of the Europe ERTMS supporting Siemens and multiple Design Houses to deliver first in class fitment to all classes of our operational fleet. This role can be based in our Peterborough, London or Doncaster office. Closing date: 15th November 2024 Duties Document Reviews – drawings / schematics / structural; etc. Project Meetings – LEF; ILEF; Design briefing; etc. Internal Communication – Director briefings; Safety Validation Panel; Stakeholder briefings. 3rd Party Maintainer – Engagement for all engineering matters. Programme support – Surveys; Design House engagement; Administration. Organising and supporting locomotive surveys across the UK to support the First-in-Class (FiC) fitment plan. Assisting in the design scrutiny of First-in-Class (FiC) designs which will include detailed analysis of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic diagrams, testing procedures ensuring safety compliance and successful system integration. Liaise with Internal Engineering and Production departments to assist with the review of ETCS technical documentation to meet contractual timeframes. Liaising with other project stakeholders (such as other Freight companies, Network Rail and Siemens) in an effective and professional manner to progress the ERTMS project. Assist with future development and training requirements to support GBRf maintenance suppliers providing a skilled and competent workforce in ETCS. Acting as a Deputy to the Lead Engineer at industry and programme meetings.Ensuring GBRf Business as Usual Operations are not adversely affected by the introduction of ETCS by exercising due diligence and professionalism. Assist the business with integrating ETCS into current processes and procedures as part of the Put into Use process ensuring HAZid’s are identified by acting as an ETCS specialist. Skills required Essential Detailed knowledge of Diesel and Electric locomotive systems and maintenance. A broad but detailed understanding of Mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems. Understanding of Engineering processesExperience of working to test specifications. Ability to interpret electrical and pneumatic schematics. Highly organised, detail oriented and self-motivated. Collaborative mindset and strong interpersonal skills. Remain positive in high pressure and stressful situations. Critical thinking, communication, and relationship-building skills. Action oriented and results focused. Flexible and resourceful approach. Full (UK) Driving License. Proficient user of Microsoft Office. Desirable Electrically biased in various freight traction types. Electrical Engineering qualification and/or sufficient work experience 7yrs.
