Purpose of the Role:
To support the tax team in providing a first-class financial service through robust financial tax analysis.
Principal Accountabilities:
1. Support the tax manager in the preparation of the yearly R&D tax claim, reviewing documents and ensuring the maximum is claimed.
2. Business partnering with individual stakeholders in the R&D claim to build a robust claim.
3. Support the finance team to extract and analyze/perform checks on the financial data weekly to review for tax robustness, which feeds into various tax returns.
4. Compile routine tax activities such as PSA and P11D.
5. Provide feedback to the finance team on improvements on processes and systems to enhance the quality of the data.
6. Manage the day-to-day data held in the system to support reporting easily out of the ERP system.
7. Assist in ensuring tax compliance and that submissions are made to reduce the risk of penalties.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
1. A desire to work with complex data and make it usable.
2. Willingness to work towards ATT or equivalent.
3. Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of basic VAT rules (e.g., general rule for place of supply).
4. Ideally some experience of non-UK VAT compliance.
5. Able to use Microsoft programs.
6. Able to work with large datasets and has excellent data analysis skills, particularly in spotting trends and anomalies.
7. Shows a willingness to ask questions and an eagerness to learn to deliver better service and solutions.
8. Experience in using ERP systems for tax codes and rules.
9. Communicates clearly verbally and in writing.
10. Reliable and presents information in an organized, self-reviewed manner, free from obvious error, and delivered on time.
11. Uses initiative driven by a desire to find solutions.
12. Knowledge of basic double-entry bookkeeping.

McLaren Racing is based at the iconic McLaren Technology Centre (MTC) near Woking.
