This is a new Permanent job vacancy, and we are keen to speak with Shift Leaders, Team Leaders, Supervisors, who have worked in an Engineering or Manufacturing environment
As the Assistant Department Manager, you will be working as part of the performance management team.
This is a varied role which involves day to day management and planning of the production team across 2 shifts. Ensuring parts are produced on time and to the required quality standard whilst maintaining all health and safety requirements.
1. Ensure regulations and recommendations are adhered to and a safe working environment is maintained at all times whilst being a lead member of the fire/spillage team.
2. Lead, direct, and focus the efforts of the team whereby product is manufactured effectively and efficiently
3. Identify and implement countermeasures when deviations to plans occur in a timely manner.
4. Reviewing departmental KPI’s on a regular basis with the focus of improving productivity/efficiency in a proactive manner.
5. Lead and manage department meetings including continuous improvement activities and project plans.
6. Take a lead role outside of office hours and in the absence on the department manager.
7. Lead cross department teams to focus on continuous improvement activities.
8. Engaging and motivating Team-Members through positive, effective, and timely communication, including performance management meetings.
9. Periodically reviewing department and team-members strengths/weaknesses, in an effort to identify development opportunities/skills gaps.
10. Identifying the necessary human and material resources to meet departmental and business objectives.
To be considered for the role of Assistant Department Manager:
11. You will hold a management qualification.
12. Experience of managing teams within a manufacturing environment. Up to 60 staff
13. Dependable, responsible contributor who’s committed to excellence and success.

19. Organisational skills.
20. Computer Literate (Microsoft office competent)
21. NVQ or higher in Engineering manufacture or equivalent / Advanced Modern Apprenticeship- Advantageous
22. Project management qualification / experience- Advantageous
Working hours, rotating shift
Monday to Friday 6am to 1:35pm rotating with Monday to Friday
Overtime will be available on occasion
