Job overview
The Surgery, Cancer and Cardiovascular Sciences (SCC) division is one of three divisions within Imperial College Healthcare Trust. The Vascular Surgery directorate is based at St Mary's Hospital, Charing Cross Hospital and Hammersmith Hospital. We also support satellite services at both West Middlesex hospital and Chelsea and Westminster hospital.
We receive around 7,000 new general vascular referrals annually, including both GP and tertiary referrals. Our Vascular Surgery team currently perform over 1,500 daycase surgeries per year and 500+ inpatient operations as part of our elective care pathway. The team also perform more than 600 non-elective procedures on an annual basis.
There are 10 consultant surgeons, 5 specialist registrars, 2 clinical lecturers, 4 Research SpRs, 9 FY2/CT/Trust grades, 3 FY1s, and 4 AVNPs within the unit. The post holder will be well supported by this large clinical team.
A 12 month fixed term opportunity has arisen for a Junior Clinical Fellow within the directorate to undertake various clinical duties as well as academic responsibilities. They will work with the clinical, admin and management teams along with support services to meet the clinical, surgical and research demands on the vascular surgery service at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust with a strong emphasis on education.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated and dynamic team player to join a large multi-disciplinary team, in the directorate of Vascular Surgery.
Main duties of the job
The Vascular Unit has a strong commitment to teaching, research and audit and its work is known both nationally and internationally.
The Clinical Fellow will take part in a resident on call rota which is compliant with European Working Time Directive, with the other SHO level posts in Vascular Surgery.
These responsibilities will include:
1. Dictation of discharge letters and electronic ordering of investigations.
2. Generation of data for the audit programme and presentation of patients at the weekly meeting.
3. Ensuring effective communication within the vascular service, keeping both the Consultants, SpRs and Senior Nursing Staff informed of the clinical management of all patients admitted.

Essential criteria
* On GMC registered/ licensed Medical Practitioner
Higher Qualifications
Essential criteria
* MBBS or equivalent
* MRCS
Relevant experience in specialty/Sub specialty
Essential criteria
* Good grounding in SHO level surgery
* Ability to provide a complete employment history
* Evidence that career progression is consistent with personal circumstances
* Evidence of achievement of Foundation competences from a UKFPO or equivalent
Desirable criteria
* Experience under the vascular surgery specialty
* Experience of HDU/ ITU management level.

* Competent in the use of IT packages
