Here at Gen2 we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced finance manager to join our senior management team as the senior finance manager.
The Finance Manager will lead the Gen2 Finance team, reporting to the Financial Controller. As part of the Gen2 SMT, you will partner the Gen2 MD providing financial information and data-led advice to improve the effectiveness and profitability of Gen2 and the Training Delivery businesses as a whole. You will take ownership of the financials and will gain a thorough understanding of the internal operations of the business, to provide insights that will drive decision-making and overall company performance.
About the role This role will be based in our head office facility in Workington and will be perfect for anyone who has qualified accountant status and has experience in leading high performing teams. This role will support the wider C&G training delivery business and you will be working collaboratively with the C&G finance team as well as the various teams within Gen2. We would particularly love to hear from you if you have previous experience working within an educational environment and have knowledge of ESFA funding. What you will be doing:
Providing key financial data and insights as part of the Gen2 SMT, Partnering the Gen2 MD and Senior FBP for Training Delivery
Manage the Bids and Tenders process from the Finance perspective, providing detailed analysis and pricing recommendations, where required
Identify and report on KPI metrics that underpin business performance
Manage and develop the Gen2 Finance team (x3 Financial Office Manager, Management Accountant, Finance Officer)
Manage the day-to-day running of the Finance function including oversight of bank, receivables, payables, and cash flow forecast ensuring processes and controls are in place and adhered to.
Managing the transition to a new ERP system, SAGE 200 to SAGE Intacct, from the Gen2 perspective
Collate and present detail for the monthly Trading Meeting to the Group ELT, alongside the Gen2 MD
Work closely with Head of Funding to manage and reconcile ESFA funding contract activity and receipts
Oversight and management of major sales contracts
Own the month end close process and managements accounting outputs (Group reports, local cost centre reports and insightful commentary)
Annual budgeting, monthly rolling forecasting and Trading reviews (revenue, opex and capex)
Manage the external auditing process
Liaising with 3rd parties customers, professional services (including lawyers, auditors)
Finance support and guidance for sister company (some UK based travel expected) and consolidation of management accounts for submission to Group
Overseeing HMRC requirements - including VAT return, P11d etc
About You
What you will bring to the team:
Experience of leading and mentoring high performing Finance teams
Experience of contract management
A strong sense of commercial acumen
Diligent attention to detail
A proven track record of communicating and challenging senior leaders
Highly numerate with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate reporting/presentations on time
Extensive knowledge of profit and loss accounting and the accounting treatments for financial transactions
Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA). Demonstrable experience of key role responsibilities.
Ability to work under pressure and stick to tight deadlines, self-motivated and able to time manage own workload with conflicting priorities
Experience in using accounting systems and planning tools - we use Sage 200 in the local business and OneStream for planning across City Group
