Mechanical Maintenance Technician - West Lothian
Reporting to Head of Operations - You will need to be flexible, in terms of time, participation in activities out-with normal scope of job, participation in Health and Safety initiatives, projects and workouts throughout the entire facility in the interest of the company.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide mechanical maintenance support to the Production facility as per schedules.
2. React promptly to breakdowns and inspections, perform equipment overhauls, and carry out scheduled preventative and predictive maintenance. Actively use CMMS System.
3. Installation and commissioning of new equipment/machinery, including pumps, gearboxes, motors, valves, pipework, etc.
4. Install, inspect, and repair equipment in (ATEX/DSEAR) hazardous areas.
5. Maintain service records for plant and equipment, including monitoring and reporting on equipment running conditions.
6. Assessment and application of safe systems of work for all tasks – RAMS, LOTO, Permit to Work, etc.
7. Contribute to incident investigations and equipment failure root cause analysis to design out issues and improve maintenance practices.
8. Using knowledge of plant, participate in HAZOPs, MoC, SIL Assessments, etc.
9. Coordinate with Management to ensure spare parts availability and specification; actively participate in obsolescence review.
Demonstrated Competence:
* Inspection and maintenance of:
o Process pumps (mainly centrifugal and progressive cavity type)
o Solids handling equipment (screw conveyors, elevators, mills, filter units)
o Steam boilers & associated equipment
o Air compressors & associated equipment
Minimum Requirements:
* Prior experience of working as a Mechanical Technician within a COMAH or high-risk facility.
* Demonstrate competence in application/management of safe systems of work through all work tasks – including COSHH, RAMS, safe isolation of plant (LOTO), PTW (including confined space entry/rescue).
* PC literate, including Microsoft Word, Excel, email, and prior CMMS use.
* Time served apprenticeship.
