Overall Purpose:
To provide high-quality support to students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), enabling them to access learning and achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Support in the Classroom:
2. Assist the L&D Coaches in delivering lessons, providing additional support as needed.
3. Work with individuals or small groups of students, tailoring support to their specific needs.
4. Use a range of teaching strategies and resources to engage and motivate apprentices.
5. Encourage positive behaviour and create a supportive learning environment.
6. Individual Support:
7. Provide one-to-one support to apprentices with complex needs, EHC Plans and following individual education plans (IEPs).
8. Promote independence and self-esteem in students.
9. Complete monthly support sessions for learners following a neurodiversity plan.
10. Communication and Collaboration:
11. Maintain regular communication with the Learning and Development Coach, safeguarding and management team to share observations and progress updates.
12. Work collaboratively with other professionals, such as speech therapists and occupational therapists.
13. Attend and contribute to meetings, reviews and parent consultations.
14. Record Keeping and Administration:
15. Maintain accurate records of student progress and interventions.
16. Prepare and organise learning materials as required.
Essential Qualifications and Skills:
* Relevant qualifications in education or childcare (preferred)
* Experience working with children with SEND
* Strong understanding of child development and learning theories
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team
* Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude
* Flexibility and adaptability to changing circumstances
* Strong organisational and time management skills
Desirable Qualifications and Skills:
* Knowledge of specific SEN conditions and strategies
* Experience using assistive technology
* First aid qualification
