Northern Commercials, based in Hildenborough are recruiting for an Apprentice Paint Sprayer. The role will be to learn and carry out all aspects of identifying what damage has been done on the vehicle. You will prep and paint vehicles using different tools.
Wage
£14,144 a year
Over time you will be paid at time and half, overtime can only be earnt once over 18 years of age due to work hours restriction.

Monday – Friday 7.30am – 17.00pm, 1 hr for lunch. If you are aged 16-17, the maximum amount of hours you can work is 40 per week.

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
Some of the key tasks will include but are not limited to:
* Learn all aspects of the body repair workshop
* Learn all H&S and COSSH and safety in the accident repair and workshop environment.
* Using different relevant tools.
* Undertake appropriate job preparation prior to commencing repair e.g. substrate surface preparation, paint volume calculation etc.
* Ability to correctly identify the substrate materials to be refinished e.g. plastic, steel, aluminium etc.

Course contents
* Ability to undertake appropriate job preparation prior to commencing repair e.g. substrate surface preparation, paint volume calculation etc
* Ability to correctly identify the substrate materials to be refinished e.g. plastic, steel, aluminium etc
* Ability to interpret relevant technical data and methods to create paint manufactures specified application
* Ability to use refinishing materials following paint manufacturer specifications to reinstate vehicle finish back to high quality
* Ability to identify and operate the correct repair tools, equipment and devices used in the process e.g mixing systems, paint booths, UV lamps and spray equipment
Your training plan
You will be completing the Level 3 Vehicle Damage Paint Technician apprenticeship. At the end of the apprenticeship, you will gain a grade Pass or Distinction.
If you don’t have a Level 2 maths and English qualification you will complete Functional Skills in maths and English. You will complete these qualifications alongside your day in college.
Day-release will be at the Eastbourne campus, once a week, term time only. An assessor will visit you every 10-12 weeks onsite. Please ensure you can travel to this location in East Sussex before applying.

-On occasions you may be required to work outside. -You will be lifting heavy items -You will be working with full face coverings on certain jobs. -Once a week you will be required to attend East Sussex College’s Eastbourne campus, located in Hampden Park. The campus is a 10-minute walk from the train station. Before the apprenticeship begins you will be required to come to the college for a face-to-face induction session. This will include a maths and English assessment, which will be important if you don’t have a Level 2 maths and English qualification. -The apprenticeship may start before the closing date.
