General Dynamics Land Systems is on the look-out for a full-time Ajax Hull Manufacturing Engineer to join our Manufacturing Team, based in Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales on a permanent contract. The successful and inclusive candidate will earn a favourable salary of £41,600 to £52,000 based on experience and potential. This is an ideal role for someone who has a proactive and positive mindset and a keen desire to grow professionally.
Joining an established team, you will work across a range of stakeholders participating and coordinating the implementation of major component fabrication & quality rectification. The role requires development and documentation of rework processes, ability to define solutions from tech drawing analysis, and generate tooling in-house for the Assembly processes.
Ensuring DFM, DFT & DTC principles have been applied to optimise quality, cost and turnaround time objectives.
If you were already working in this position, this is what you would have been working on this week:
1. Ensuring appropriate facilities are in place to support qualification/production vehicle and sub-system build and test in accordance to schedule.
2. Working with the Supply Chain supporting Supplier selection initiatives, problem resolution and cost out initiatives.
3. Supporting AJAX Design Engineering and other new programmes in order to ensure that DFM, DFT & DTC principles are implemented within the conceptual and final design phases.
4. Generation/governance of Technical documentation to ensure hull repair actions return the product to design intent.
To apply for this role, you will require the following:
1. Proven experience working with Manufacturing Assembly and Test processes (AFV Ajax / ELS experience preferred).
2. Experience of low volume & high value (vehicle or similar) production.
3. Knowledge and procurement of tooling and facilitation activities required for manufacturing large high value / low volume products.
4. Working experience of welded structures for wheeled/tracked vehicles (armour preferable).
5. A working understanding of two & three dimensional CAD tools is essential.
6. Significant experience/background in a Process/Manufacturing Engineering role.
7. Good working knowledge of MRP systems including MBOM creation and maintenance, Change control and change introduction.
8. The jobholder should possess a Degree, HNC or equivalent (vocational experience) in Manufacturing Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Weld & Fabrication equivalent.
9. Experience working as a Manufacturing Engineer covering Mechanical/Electrical assemblies.
10. A good knowledge of PDM and MRP principles.
11. Participation in 'Lean Process' initiatives.
