An opportunity has arisen for an experienced family support worker to join Falkirk Council and lead on the delivery of a bespoke family support pilot developed collaboratively by Children’s and Place Services. This post is to provide person centred family support to children and families who have lived in temporary accommodation for lengthy periods of time. The post holder will use the Outcome Star model to undertake assessment of need, helping families to identify and overcome the wider factors impacting on their ability to sustain a permanent tenancy. A strength-based approach is essential in working alongside families to identify solutions in respect of their family life. Therefore, experience of supporting families in overcoming challenges with family relationships and routines, the impact of domestic abuse, emotional wellbeing and school attendance is desirable. You will be based in the Temporary Accommodation Team to develop a strong understanding of the housing application system and support families in this process. They will also be required to work closely with key partners across social work, education, employment, and mental health services to support the development of stronger support networks for families. Strong communication skills and experience of working collaboratively with partners is essential. This post is temporary until February 2026 and has been created to support Children’s and Place Services in its ongoing work to improve outcomes for children and families in the local area. Supervision and support with be provided on a regular basis. The successful candidate will be required to maintain PVG scheme membership. You should be mobile across the council area and show commitment to your continuous development.
