We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Tax Manager to join our team focusing on Corporation Tax, reporting into the Head of Tax.
This role will lead the Corporate Tax team, taking ownership of corporation tax compliance, reporting, forecasting and related advisory work, managing two direct reports.
You'll play a key part in leading and influencing, working closely with stakeholders across Finance in order to proactively manage tax risk and increase efficiency through the use of process, data and technology.
You'll support delivery of Nationwide's Tax Strategy, ensuring we pay the right amount of tax at the right time. This is consistent with the Nationwide's mutual ethos and strong commitment to social responsibility. You'll drive activity to support a low tax risk status with HMRC, whilst identifying appropriate opportunities for efficiency and value, to ensure we use Nationwide's members' money wisely.

What you'll be doing
You'll be responsible for:
* Leading the Corporate Tax team, setting the strategy and driving the delivery of high quality, timely and accurate output across tax compliance, reporting, forecasting and related advice
* Building effective working relationships with stakeholders across Nationwide and influencing to ensure that tax implications of business or legislative changes are fully assessed, documented, mitigated and managed within Nationwide's tax risk appetite
* Setting the process, data and technology roadmap for corporate taxes, working with internal stakeholders to scope, prioritise and deliver improvements to efficiency and risk reduction
* Developing the control environment, reporting and management of risks for corporate taxes
* Leading the tax relationship with external auditors and the engagement of external advisors, where applicable.
In this management role, you'll role model the behaviours we want to see and contribute to wider team management activities, including the recruitment, coaching and development of others within the team
About you
At a minimum you will be:
* A qualified accountant and qualified tax professional, with proven tax experience in corporation tax compliance and tax reporting in an inhouse financial services environment, or have proven experience supporting from within Practice
* Experienced in producing tax disclosures for consolidated group accounts
* Experienced in managing and delivering corporate tax projects e.g. Transfer Pricing, Capital Allowances, Research and Development, BEPS Pillar II, Bank Levy etc.
* Experienced in using data analytics and tax technology to improve efficiency and reduce risk
* An excellent communicator, able to engage effectively with and influence people at all levels across Nationwide
* Able to make decisions on complex technical or business challenges in an agile and fast-moving environment.
* Able to manage multiple conflicting priorities and identify the right course of action for Nationwide.
