We are looking for a Chief Truckie to lead the team of Truckies in providing logistics support for the World Rally Raid team as they embark on a new long-term programme. You will ensure all equipment and vehicles are delivered to venues around the world, whether by truck or air/sea freight, and be responsible for the wheels and tyres for cars on events, along with the upkeep and maintenance of equipment. Travel is a key part of this role and can be up to 2-3 weeks per event. You will be required to work at the factory between events preparing the vehicles and equipment.
Key responsibilities:
* Take responsibility for the other Truckies, prioritising and delegating tasks, ensuring jobs are completed within deadlines. Work with the Logistics Manager to plan resource requirements accordingly.
* Report progress and any foreseeable problems to the Team Manager. This will require thinking about the long-term aspects and other requirements required throughout the business.
* Deliver cars support vehicles and equipment to tight deadlines around the world, including taking responsibility for any freight documents required at each location.
* Ensure all vehicles are kept in a permanently clean and presentable condition, both inside and out, onsite and on event.
* Assist with the general upkeep of the service area on event and Truckie bay and compound when onsite.
* Under guidance from the Team/Logistics Manager, be responsible for event set up and pack down in accordance with event guidelines and team diagrams.
* Assist as required, with any other day to day activities of the team under guidance from the Team Manager, Logistics Manager and Chief Technician.
* Ensure that consumable stock levels are maintained.
* Ensure that the vehicles, parts, and equipment transported are carefully handled and that all reasonable care is taken to prevent any form of damage.
* Ensure compliance with the Operator’s licence, effective defect reporting, walk round checks, Driver’s hours etc.
* Interact with other departments, in turn ensuring there are no unnecessary delays.
Who are we looking for?
Our ideal candidate will have a Class 1 Licence (C+E) and current DCPC with Transcontinental driving experience. You will have previous experience within a similar Lead/Chief Truckie role within Motorsport and some mechanical knowledge. Previous experience of Dakar would be advantageous, along with knowledge of carnet procedure and process. This role involves extensive travel for long periods of time, so you will be comfortable with long and unsociable hours as well as travel to events worldwide. Teamwork and the ability to motivate others is essential, along with being driven to meet deadlines and flexible to changing demands.
