We are seeking a capable, amenable and self-motivated mechanical stress engineer to join our team and drive our current and future mechanical engineering programmes. Key Qualifications BSc/BEng in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering 5 years of relevant mechanical analysis experience FEA mechanical Analysis (ANSYS) experience Good understanding of transient thermal loads in hot components and load interactions Experience in rig testing and verification is desirable Experience with damage tolerance assessments is desirable Team orientated, problem solving attitude Responsibilities The successful candidate will work within the engine design team being responsible for mechanical assessments of aircraft and engine components to ensure that they meet the required life and integrity requirements. Create mechanical models to analyse the aircraft components and sub-systems using analysis methods ranging from initial scoping calculations in MathCAD to 2D and 3D FEA models. Build and analyse mechanical models of static and rotating components using 2D and 3D FEA. Working closely with design team to optimised the performance and integrity of mechanical components across the platform. Technical assessment of the component life and integrity through the design phase, into testing, verification, validation, certification and in-service support. LCF and HCF lifting of components. Crack propagation and damage tolerance assessments of critical parts. Define, plan, support and analyse rig testing to verify and validate the design and achieve certification. Technical documentation of tasks and preparation of certification reports.
