We have an opportunity for an experienced and interactive Higher Level Teaching Assistant on a full time, term time only basis. The main purpose of the role will be to provide 1:1 bus support and 1 to 1 class support, for an individual KS2 pupil on the SEND register.
Key responsibilities:
* To accompany a KS2 student with additional needs to and from their designated pick up/drop off point on the school bus
* To assisting the pupil when boarding and alighting from the bus
* To ensure the pupil is safely and comfortably seated with seat belt securely fastened
* To act as Key Worker for identified pupil, regularly liaising with parents and staff to ensure progress against Learning Plan targets.
* To complement the professional work of teachers, particularly within an alternative curriculum. For example, joint planning with teachers and preparing and delivering learning activities for ASDAN/entry-level courses.
* To promote and facilitate the inclusion of the pupil within the learning environment, supporting interaction where required.
* To work with teachers, LSCO and RSENDCO to monitor the pupil’s progress and assess, record and report on this.
* To build positive working relationships and links with parents and outside agencies who are working with the pupil.
* To support other pupils as required across KS2 – KS5 including those with EHCPs.
You will:
* Have experience of working with children who have additional needs at EYFS- Key Stage 2
* Have experience of working with children with communication and interaction difficulties
* Have knowledge of effective strategies which aid children with communication and interaction difficulties
* Have knowledge and understanding of the different social, cultural and physical needs of pupils
* Genuine care and will to support children particularly those who find learning and managing their behavior difficult
* Excellent understanding of SEND procedures.
* Have recognised Level 3 Teaching Assistant / Learning Support qualification (or have / working towards Higher Level Teaching Assistant qualifications)
* Communicate and co-operate effectively and positively with specialists from outside agencies, where applicable.
