This is a fixed term opportunity for approximately 12 months to cover maternity leave.

Effective and timely delivery of critical business requirements (CBR), new product development (NPD) are crucial to redefining the pladis competitive edge. As part of the new strategy implementation, the Process Development Team will play an integral part. Working with the Lead Process Development Manager, the Process Development Manager is a key role which will provide strong focus and support on delivering technical perfection through the practical application of process technologies and manufacturing know-how. The role will support the technical capabilities of the site-based Technical team and other functions at the site, to help drive the move towards world-class manufacturing standards in pladis.
Please note the role will be based at our Jacobs factory in Aintree.
What will this role achieve?
* Lead specific process development projects and support the implementation of new products, manufacturing & technology change and CBR for the factory.
* Manage continuous improvement initiatives which deliver sustained improvements in process consistency, efficiency, and consumer satisfaction.
* Lead the technical support function for the site to ensure rapid deployment of resource and expertise to keep manufacturing lines running to the required operational standards, and to the correct quality standards.
What will be your key deliverables?
* Support, lead and implement initiatives to deliver the introduction of NPD (design) and Value Improvement, ensuring all projects meet time, cost, and quality constraints.
* Provide ‘hands-on’ process technical support to continuous improvement initiatives at site.
* Find opportunities for continuous process improvements and support work for justifications of capital investment. Implement process innovations to keep the site at the cutting edge of industry developments.
* Execute effective and efficient planning, management, and reporting of all factory trials relating to VI, NPD, Procurement, and Continuous Improvement initiatives for process-led work.
* Apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools, techniques, and principles to drive Technical perfection across all site operations, including the continuous improvement of performance and finished product quality. Ensure compliance to the Change Protocol procedures for pladis.
* Lead a programme of improvement and standardisation to plant methods, technology, and practices vital to enhance and harmonise the standards of site Process Development.
* Ensure compliance with Health and Safety laws of substances hazardous to health (COSHH) and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) during trials.
* Develop process and product specifications for the site’s product range in line with the plant’s capability and ensure availability and completion for all product changes and launches.
What do you need for this role?
Crucial
* HND qualification or similar in Food, Science, Manufacturing or Engineering.
* ‘Hands-on’ Technical knowledge of process development in a food/baking manufacturing environment.
* Confident understanding of ingredients and their functionality.
* Significant experience in a factory/process role, including the robust application of Lean Sigma methodology to Continuous Improvement initiatives.
* Demonstrated success in implementation of Continuous Improvement and change projects within a manufacturing environment.
* Team working on multi-functional projects.
* Familiarity and understanding of factory environment.
* Fluent written and spoken English.
Desirable
* University degree level qualification in Food, Science, Manufacturing or Engineering.
* Formal business qualification (e.g. Management Diploma/MBA).
* Trained in Six Sigma/Lean Sigma.
* Experience in a Technical role in another blue-chip Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) company.
