Internal Job Title: Finance Business Partner Business: Lucy Electric Location: Thame Job Reference No: 3690 Job Purpose: To build and maintain strong partnerships with senior managers and their teams within the Lucy Electric businesses, developing complex analyses and delivering financial insight to enhance decision making and influence business strategy. Business Overview: Lucy Electric is an international leader in intelligent secondary power distribution products and solutions, with features such as remote operation and monitoring. Linking energy generation to consumption, the business specialises in high-performance medium and low-voltage switchgear for utility, industrial and commercial applications. Key Accountabilities: Financial Analysis Understand the business’s information requirements and proactively provide financial and business support/analysis/reports that meet these requirements, and provide insight into the day to day activities as well as the strategic tasks. Support business initiatives including the development of business cases, business model definition, ‘what if’ scenarios and projections – including discounted cash flows, net present values and other appropriate measures of the success of projects, CAPEX investments and initiatives. Financial modeling and investment decision support, in order to drive business change. Understanding the construction of product costs, including analysis of finished products, in order to be able to break down the cost into Material, Labour, Overheads, Duty, Freight, and any embedded margin. Support Sales and Tendering, with full financial responsibility for ensuring the accuracy of high value quotations, and verifying that all business risks have been considered during the process. Investment Appraisal Provide finance insights into business case investment decisions and assess and challenge the entire business case and the assumptions that underpin the numbers, and manage through to completion. Tacton – Quotation Tool Working with Manufacturing and Supply Chain globally, to ensure that costs within the system are updated on an annual basis. Support Engineering to ensure that the costing models within the tool, are aligned to the D365 ERP. Provide support and guidance to the development team, to ensure the configuration is both robust, and that best practice is maintained. Other Business Support Activities Support the Lead Lucy Electric Finance Business Partner on global projects, adding strength to the business/finance knowledge base. Working with the Lead Finance Business Partner to create the Financial Model for the Medium Term Plan (MTP) annually, and also to work with the Lucy Electric Management Team to create the overall MTP pack. Undertake other duties within the Finance department to ensure both internal and external customers’ requirements are met. Provide ongoing support, including a monthly global reconciliation, to report Inventory Provisions made by the individual factories worldwide. Project Management and Contracts – responsibility for ensuring that financial controls are in place to safeguard the accuracy of financial data for turnkey projects. Also, to improve and maintain reporting to a level sufficient to satisfy the needs of both Finance and Project Management. Support the Lucy Electric Management Team to create consolidated Budget Packs, including appropriate financial analysis, for key areas of the business. Support Finance Managers during the annual budget and quarterly forecast processes. Working with local Finance Managers to improve cash flow and other working capital initiatives. Collate financial information from global sales organisations and present consolidated information to Senior Management, for budgeting and medium term plan purposes. Provide support, advice and appropriate training to other departments, in order to develop financial understanding across the business. Provide financial support, advice and analysis for any company wide initiatives and specific projects that may arise, enabling informed decisions to be made. Secondary Activities / Tasks: To undertake any other duties and responsibilities as required or instructed in order to maintain and/or improve the efficiency, quality and service provided by Finance. To undertake occasional business travel abroad or within the UK as and when required. Experience, Knowledge, Qualifications & Skills: Essential Experience & Knowledge Commercially strong with an ability to identify and shape opportunities/risks, influencing behaviour and decisions which improve business results. Experience of working in multinational engineering organisation and be accustomed to partnering multi-functional stakeholders at a senior level. Strong analytical skills, including the ability quickly to grasp the ‘big picture’ and exhibit judgment in drawing conclusions and solving problems. Experience in a senior Finance Management role with P&L and balance sheet accountability. Advanced knowledge of MS Office software and finance packages. Good verbal and written communication skills in both one to one and group environments, with the ability to communicate complex financial data to non-finance employees. Ability to create and use complex financial models for development and analysis of the business. Qualifications Education to degree level or equivalent Skills Knowledge and use of Dynamics D365 ideally. If not, then knowledge of other major ERPs. Knowledge and use of Power BI ideally. Excellent presentation skills.
