Role Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Diesel Engine Development Engineer to join a leading engineering team at a state-of-the-art facility in Stafford. This role is key to supporting the development of a high-performance industrial diesel engine range, focusing on engine calibration, data analysis, and performance validation.
The position requires a skilled engineer who can take ownership of planning and delivering engineering activities, ensuring that all development work meets the highest standards of quality and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Diesel engine performance and emissions calibration
2. Mechanical verification and validation of engine components and systems
3. Defining and managing component validation plans
4. Coordinating day-to-day engineering activities, including test and analysis management
5. Conducting failure analysis and defect resolution using industry-standard methods
6. Preparing technical reports and presenting findings
7. Ensuring compliance with company procedures and quality standards
8. Supporting the design function through FMEA participation
9. Collaborating with engineering teams across multiple sites
10. Occasional overseas travel as required
Qualifications & Experience
1. Engineering degree or equivalent qualification/experience
2. Proven experience in engine performance and emissions calibration, data analysis, and reporting
3. Knowledge of emissions measurement techniques, global emission regulations, and emissions hardware
4. Understanding of control system development, fuel system optimisation, and turbocharger matching
5. Proficiency in MS Office and technical report writing
6. Strong knowledge of industrial diesel engine systems, including cooling, lubrication, and air systems
7. Experience with CANAPE and Osiris high-speed data capture
8. Familiarity with FMEA processes and validation techniques
