Brief Description
Provide a comprehensive [Signal Sighting] asset management and engineering support service to the RAM and route team. This includes but is not exhaustive:
1. Review of signalling scheme plans and signal sighting assessment plans to ensure they comply with the applicable railway standards.
2. Agreeing the appointment of signal sighting chairs and committee members to projects.
3. Manage the post SPAD sighting process including tracking recommendations related to all sighting from investigations and other joint meetings within Network Rail as agreed.
4. Undertaking compliance reviews of lineside signalling and sign assets and providing expert guidance to local maintenance teams within both Wales and Western Routes.
Location can be Cardiff, Swindon, London, Bristol or Reading.
About the role (External)
Your Main Responsibilities will be to:
1. Provide [Signal Sighting] systems engineering input to the determination of appropriate engineering maintenance regimes and activity volumes for [Signal Sighting] assets in accordance with company policies, standards and specifications.
2. Provide a comprehensive systems engineering support service across the [Signal Sighting] asset base throughout the route and across delivery units as and when required.
3. Provide technical briefings associated with [Signal Sighting] systems engineering to engineers in delivery units.
4. Review and make recommendations on derogation and non-compliance applications to [Signal Sighting] systems engineering related standards.
5. Review and monitor progression of potential improvements to [Signal Sighting] systems from delivery units; provide feedback to the originators.
6. Carry out asset condition inspections that will inform the [Signal Sighting] asset condition database and the renewals work bank.
7. Provide advice and guidance to the delivery unit and other asset engineers in the production of prioritised business focussed [Signal Sighting] systems renewal proposals.
8. Participate in, and lead as directed, [Signal Sighting] engineering activities in support assurance processes including the maintenance audit programmes and engineering verification.
9. Monitor the reliability and performance of [Signal Sighting] systems related assets across the route and instigate, lead and participate in the implementation of corrective actions to improve as required.
10. Contribute to the development and maintenance of route asset management plans.
11. Participate in investigations of incidents as required.
12. Contribute to the development of revised standards and policies relating to all [Signal Sighting] assets.
13. Assist in the review and acceptance process for engineering project designs as and when required.
You will ideally have
1. Incorporated Engineer
2. Degree in a relevant subject or equivalent
3. Membership of relevant professional institution
4. Substantial [Signal Sighting] engineering experience
5. A detailed understanding of the maintenance of all [Signal and Lineside sign] assets
6. A sound knowledge of the relevant technical, safety and performance standards
7. Holds relevant professional licences and technical qualifications, or capable of achieving within reasonable timescales
8. Holds valid UK driving licence, or eligible and be willing to obtain
What could set you apart
1. Chartered engineer
2. Understanding and experience of railway infrastructure maintenance
3. Experience of undertaking engineering assurance activities, including competence assessment
