Description Job Description Are you ready to help shape Scotland’s future by playing a central role in all aspects of The Planning and Environmental Appeals Division ( DPEA’s ) delivery functions? The DPEA Division of the Scottish Government plays an important role in the Planning Appeals system in Scotland. The DPEA is responsible for the administration of a wide range of planning, electricity consenting and related applications and appeals, to support wider strategies including transition to net zero, local living and the wellbeing economy. As a part of DPEA ‘s senior leadership team you will you will play key role in shaping DPEA’s approach and response to the increasing demands in relation to all aspects of its casework. Responsibilities As part of the DPEA senior management team you will ensure that, within the context of limited resources, you identify and deliver management actions necessary to maintain a highly motivated workforce and high levels of staff and customer satisfaction. Manage the casework support and IT/Finance teams (direct line management for three staff), ensuring that all management issues are appropriately addressed and that there is development of a learning culture through the dissemination of knowledge and drive for continual improvement. Support the Chief Reporter in responding to People Survey results across the Division Lead the professional delivery of all DPEA administrative activities, continually striving for improvement. Ensure that our resources are deployed effectively, making best use of public funds. Ensure that we retain our reputation for delivering high quality services and ensuring that targets set for our casework are met. Advise, where appropriate, in relation to MACCS cases, PQ’s FOI/EIR requests, press queries, complaints and the DPEA Annual Review. Oversee DPEA budgets and ensure best value for money. Contract manager for DPEA Case Management System, Information Asset owner and responsibility in relation to the Certificate of Assurance process. Allocation of workloads to salaried and self-employed reporters. Monthly RAG assessment of all live casework. Develop relations with key stakeholders both internally in respect of ongoing new casework and externally.
