Are you looking for a new and exciting position to support patient pathways and clinical excellence? We are seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic and forward-thinking Specialist Dental Nurse to join the Paediatric dental nursing team at Birmingham Dental Hospital.
The paediatric team is a specialist multi-disciplinary team that carries out a variety of different dental treatments under local anaesthetic, conscious sedation, and general anaesthesia.
The post-holder must be flexible as travel to other sites/locations within the division may be required. The Post Holder will support the clinical management of the dental specialty and ensure the provision of a high standard of patient care and that all Trust policies and procedures are adhered to.
Main duties include:
1. Maintain a high standard of patient care and confidentiality within all dental clinics throughout the service and manage patients with complex dental, social, and medical needs.
2. Stock control/rotation and the ordering of dental consumables as required from appropriate suppliers.
3. Prepare and maintain specialised dental equipment and dispose of clinical waste including bodily fluids.
4. Support recording of patient pre-operative assessments, e.g., height, weight, and blood pressure.
5. Carry out any other duties relevant to this role specified by the Dental Nurse Manager and/or Dental Nurse Tutor(s).
6. Provide clinical nursing support for radiography within the department to support the clinical patient pathway.
7. Identify relevant staff & students who require additional training within the specialty & escalate as appropriate.
8. Support the School of Dental Nursing, University of Birmingham, School of Hygiene and Therapy, and relevant Heads of Service to provide team training for all disciplines.
9. Adhere to procedures to support and maintain achieving national targets of compliance.
10. Ensure to implement agreed, local Divisional and Trust Policies.
11. Implement outcomes in respect of Clinical Governance & Quality Improvement relating to the specialty.
