Job description
The successful candidate will work autonomously within a multidisciplinary team to provide a specialist/occupational mental health service within the Mental Health Team (MHT) Overseas catchment area of responsibility (AOR). Providing flexible and individualised care packages to meet the psychological needs of military and civilian personnel.
Person specification
Duties will include, but are not limited to:
1. Providing initial assessment and formulation of the mental health needs for referred patients, planning, implementing and evaluating care with a high level of autonomy.
2. Performing clinical risk assessments of all patients seen, for para-suicide, self-harm and risk to others; recognising nuances in presentation of ideation and intent; acting in the best interests of the patient and others to evaluate safety in the community and therapeutic risk taking.
3. Routinely giving advice and recommendations to medical officers about all matters of mental health, care and treatment including hospital admission advice and making recommendations on General Practitioner (GP) prescribing of medication for mental health disorders.
4. Maintaining accurate and contemporaneous records and clinical notes of all patient contact
5. Communicating, where appropriate, on occupational information via the Unit Health Committee whilst respecting the principles of patient confidentiality.

Desirable criteria:
6. Post graduate qualifications in an evidence based psychological therapy
7. Have post qualification experience.
Essential criteria:
8. Experience working within adult mental health services
9. Experience of working in a Community Mental Health setting.
10. Experience in delivering National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) recommended psychological interventions
Qualifications
Qualified in a mental health profession and with a registered professional body (ie. Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) or HCPC.)
Memberships
Professional registration with Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) or Health and Care Professions Council(HCPC)
