CMS Clinical are looking for Support Workers to provide assistance to children, who have complex needs, to manage and navigate their day to day lives. Our clients most commonly have mental health conditions or learning disabilities and are able to provide day to day personal care themselves. Support Workers will either work within the service users home, and less frequently within a residential home with several service users. The role of a Support Worker is geared towards supporting and encouraging independence, rather than acting for them. As part of this role, you will provide a the following services: ● Supporting and encouraging self care and acting for themselves ● Monitoring and recording service users well being and general observations in line with their specific needs ● Redirecting unhealthy, aggressive or difficult behaviours ● Assistance in preparing meals for or with the service user ● Assistance with medication where directed ● Rarely, providing personal care duties such as washing, dressing and personal hygiene ● Providing assistance with mobility where required ● Following care plans to ensure all the service users needs are met correctly and safely ● Potentially restraining service users when/if they become a risk to others or themselves ● Following safeguarding procedures and industry legislations and regulations ● Supporting service users emotional and physical well-being ● Assisting with and supervising activities within the home, appointments and in the community This is a broad spectrum on what could be expected of a Support Workers, some roles may require all or some of these duties.
