Job summary
We are looking to recruit a motivated individual with a passion for working with adults with a learning disability, to join our friendly and supportive multi disciplinary community team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new role development for our service. You will be supporting both our Speech and Language Therapist and our Occupational Therapist in providing a range of interventions. Experience in providing specific therapeutic interventionswould be beneficial but not essential as full training and guidance will be given.

Main duties of the job
You will need to be conscientious and do everything you can to provide patient centred care. You will work within the NSFT trust values and be able to meet deadlines to ensure that the service is delivered safely and effectively making sure service users obtain the support and care they need in a timely welcoming and collaborative team works with a varied caseload of service users who have learning disabilities and complex health 're passionate about career progression, development and uncovering training opportunities - from the moment you join us, you will be supported to learn, develop and joining our team, you will be well supported to furtherdevelopyour knowledge and skills to deliver evidence-based interventions and provide support for service users. Personal development will be supported through meaningful Appraisal and via a bespoke training package (comprehensive in house & external training programmes). On a monthly basis you will be offered reflective practice sessions, mandatory clinical supervision, and Line management supervision. You will also have an opportunity to actively take part in Quality improvement projects within the service. There are also opportunities to enrol in local university training programmes and other external courses as available.
Health education England has developed a Allied Health Professions' Support Worker competency framework which will also support you in the development of your career.

Job responsibilities
Under the supervision of a Therapist:
1. To have a basic understanding of the Occupational Therapy role and the importance of meaningful activity
2. To have a basic understanding of the and Speech and language therapy role including an awareness of swallowing difficulties.
3. To work autonomously and manage own workload
4. Manage a small number of cases independently as lead care professional
5. Work as an integrated member of the multi disciplinary team, representing the therapy services in meetings where required
6. To facilitate 1:1 and group interventions
7. To ensure that clinical practice is person centred
8. To liaise with and refer service users to external agencies where appropriate
9. To carry out assessments using identified tools (training provided)
10. To complete and contribute to treatment plans including person centred goal setting
11. To contribute to risk assessments
12. To contribute to service development
13. To observe and assess mental state, presentation, functional ability and communication and interaction skills of service users during therapeutic interventions
