Job summary A vacancy has arisen for a Biomedical Scientist to join our team in the Clinical Chemistry department at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, which forms part of the South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw Pathology Network. We are looking for highly motivated, enthusiastic Biomedical Scientist with a flexible approach to work. Participation in the out of hours service is an essential requirement, once deemed competent in all relevant areas. The OOH service is provided over 24/7, 365 days. Applicants must possess an IBMS accredited degree in Biomedical Sciences, have relevant experience in an NHS Clinical Chemistry laboratory, and hold current registration with the HCPC (Band 5/Band 6 BMS). We will also consider applicants for a trainee Biomedical Scientist if suitable band 5/6 level applications are not received. Main duties of the job Ensure all tests are performed efficiently within the assigned time and in accordance with established protocols to the required standards. Assist in maintaining high scientific and technical standards. To deputise for Senior Staff as required in their absence for short periods of time. Participate in out of hours rotas covering the 24/7 routine Biochemistry service. To be accountable for own professional actions and work for long periods of time without direct supervision. Assist in monitoring quality standards, perform audit as directed in line with service needs. Monitor stock levels and initiate delivery using pre-arranged standing orders against predefined minimum stock levels as defined by laboratory management. Please also note this vacancy is banded dependent upon applicants experience relevant to this post. The banding of the successful applicant/s will start at Band 5 unless applicants meet the necessary threshold of skills and experience required to start on Band 6.
