M&E Design Engineer £40-45k Oxfordshire Laboris Solutions are working with a forward-thinking contractor delivering exceptional residential and commercial projects. As part of their continued growth, they're looking for a talented and detail-focused Mechanical CAD/Design Engineer to join their dynamic design team. The Role This is a hands-on design role where you’ll contribute to the full lifecycle of mechanical building services design. Reporting to the Mechanical Team Leader, you’ll be producing high-quality drawings, performing key calculations, and collaborating across disciplines to ensure the successful delivery of projects. Key Responsibilities Produce schematics, layouts, elevations, and detailed mechanical drawings using AutoCAD (Revit experience is a bonus). Perform mechanical engineering calculations including heat loss, pipework, and duct sizing using tools such as Hevacomp etc. Prepare equipment schedules aligned with Employers’ Requirements, project specifications, and design standards. Review and check design documents and calculations for accuracy and compliance with building regulations and British Standards. Identify and resolve design risks with practical, well-communicated solutions. Collaborate professionally with clients, consultants, and contractors in design meetings and through technical queries. Maintain organised and accurate documentation using electronic document management systems. Support the development and delivery of installation-level Stage 5 designs. Represent the company at client and project team meetings throughout the design and delivery process. What they’re Looking For Minimum 2 years’ experience in mechanical building services or HVAC design. Proficient in AutoCAD; Revit experience desirable. Working knowledge of CAD, Hevacomp, and familiarity with SAP/SBEM modelling tools. Strong understanding of Building Regulations, British Standards, and industry best practices. Experience with technical submissions and document management systems. HNC or higher qualification in Building Services or related discipline preferred.
