In keeping with our expansion plans at our Plymouth based hospital, we are soon to be launching our Sterile Services (CSSD) department enabling us to deliver an ever more swifter service to our patients.
Due to the growing number of treatments we are now giving to patients and with the increasing external support we are offering to other healthcare centres, our busy, detailed and professional Sterile Services department have a new opening for a Sterile Services Technician to join and be part of our fun team in supporting the Sterile Services Manager in ensuring a continuously effective decontamination and sterile supplies service.
Main duties of the job
Reporting to the Sterile Services Manager, you the Senior Sterile Services Technician will be accountable for the reprocessing of reusable medical devices. This will involve washing, disinfecting, and sterilising theatre equipment.
You will help to maintain supplies inventories and stock levels, keeping accurate records on our computer system tracking various theatre items and instruments. This will include daily validation testing and recording.
You will monitor all procedures and report malfunctions of sterilisers and washer-disinfectors to the Sterile Services Manager and record the details on forms.
You will participate in conducting planned audits, looking at particulars such as equipment being correctly labelled and available as required and that equipment leaving the centre is correctly documented.
You will need to be focused in your work as concentration is required at all times during the decontamination and packing process. Care is also required when dealing with contaminated sets due to the possibility of sharps being left on trays resulting in exposure to body fluids when working in the decontamination area.
