This is a combined post whereby the successful applicant will provide day to day cover for two community teams with a shared management structure and similar patient cohort. This post is shared with another substantive Consultant Psychiatrist, also working 0.6WTE. The base is on the site of Rotherham General Hospital and these teams work closely with our inpatient wards and our hospital liaison team to facilitate discharge and reduce admissions.
To work with other members of the Home Treatment Team and the Crisis Team to provide an assessment and treatment service for the patients under the care of the teams at any one time, according to their need and to act as the RC for these patients under the provisions of the MHA 1983.
To work in collaboration with managers and staff of both teams to ensure an excellent level of care for patients there, this will involve twice weekly MDT’s in Home Treatment and daily in Crisis for the purpose of reviewing referrals, medication management, oversight of holistic treatment plan and future care/discharge planning.
To work closely with the Service and Team Manager to ensure the proper functioning of the team and that high standards of clinical care are maintained.
To provide clinical supervision for the staff on the teams. To provide formal supervision for the specialty doctor, junior doctor, trainee ACP and x2 NMP’s.
To work with other Consultant Adult Psychiatrists within Rotherham to help manage patients with mental illness who require Crisis or Home Treatment interventions.
To work with the Associate Medical Director, Associate Nurse Director and Care Group Director in the forward planning and further development of these Services within the Trust.
To participate in the consultant appraisal process within the Trust.
