Overview: Skipton International Limited (Skipton) is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Credit Risk Officer to support our Risk Management function. Based in Guernsey or Jersey, the Senior Credit Risk Officer will contribute to the oversight and execution of a wide range of risks, reporting directly to the Risk Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist in the design and implementation of Skipton International’s risk management framework.
2. Contribute to the development of risk management governance structure.
3. Implement a risk framework to assist in mitigating risk within Skipton International.
4. Identify and assess key risks faced by the Bank, considering both financial and non-financial aspects.
5. Develop risk mitigation strategies, controls, and action plans to manage identified risks effectively.
6. Design and develop methodologies to accommodate the identification, assessment, and analysis of different types of existing and emerging risks.
7. Monitor the implementation and effectiveness of risk mitigation measures and escalate issues as necessary.
8. Collaborate closely with the Risk Manager and take into consideration the contributions of the Risk Management function’s team, to plan, design and implement the risk management framework of Skipton International.
9. Keep abreast of the relevant directives, regulations, technical standards, and other rules governing development banks and ensure their ongoing maintenance and implementation.
10. Conduct risk assessments, which involve identifying, analysing, describing, and estimating the risks affecting the business.
11. Collaborate with team members to conduct risk assessments that identify and evaluate the internal risks of the Society.
12. Evaluate risks by comparing estimated risks with the criteria established by Skipton.
13. Collaborate with other team members to carry out planned and ad hoc risk audits to ensure that procedures remain relevant, and the necessary controls are in place to limit the risk of excessive risk-taking and/or abuse.
14. Present risk dashboards to the Risk Committee on a quarterly basis and/or as required.
15. Provide guidance and support to team members in their daily activities.
16. Provide accurate and timely reporting on the risks faced by the Bank.
17. Effectively communicate the risk exposures and maintain relationships with the Risk Manager.
Qualifications:
1. Previous experience in a similar role.
2. Academic qualification in Risk, Economics, Banking, Finance, Mathematics, or Statistics.
3. A recognised qualification (or qualifications) in Risk Management would be an advantage.
4. Expertise in Microsoft Excel’s analysis tools, including analysis functions, lookup functions, creation of advanced charts, and use of forecasts and trend tools.
