About the role: Work with the Works Manager and oversee the Growing team reporting into the Growing Consultant and Operations Director ensuring its people and equipment contribute to the safe, efficient and effective running of site and supervising the growing of products to production plans, ensuring growing houses are filled and products are grown for our customers on time to fulfil service orders in line with food safety, customer quality requirements. The ideal person will have previous experience in a similar role; this may be in soft fruit or with a different edible horticultural crop. You'll be highly knowledgeable in crop production and have the confidence to make independent decisions and be happy to take the responsibility for these decisions. You'll be passionate about growing delicious food, have a positive and proactive approach to work and also be flexible on working hours. You'll also have excellent communication and IT skills. About The Offer: Flexible hours per week. Rota basis 5 days per week to include weekend work Saturday - Friday, flexibility during audits and customer Technical audits, visits and peak seasons. 30 mins for lunch, & two 15min breaks morning & afternoon unpaid. 28 days including st holiday per year paid at 8 hours per day. Contributory pension as per legislation, if eligible after 3 months. You will be automatically enrolled into a workplace pension scheme after 3 months service. Your responsibilities will include: Working with the Operations team to ensure all houses are filled, transferred and emptied as per KPI's Train new members of the team on disease control and elimination Attend daily farm walks with other departments. Attending weekly planning meetings with the Growing consultant Ensuing that all growing operations are completed on time. Working with your team to achieve the best yield potential. Implement climate control and fertigation strategies. All crop husbandry work. Crop walking and scouting for pests and diseases. Enforcing & promoting excellent health & safety practice Ensure all completed work is safe and hygienic and complies with FSA and health and safety legislation To ensure GMP (good manufacturing practices) and housekeeping (clean as you go) are strictly adhered to. Drive own personal development through training and work-based experience. Help harvesting supervisors during busy times. Report on KPI figures during monthly meetings. Any other duties that may be required Skills & Experience: A background in agriculture. - A degree in agriculture or horticulture is preferred. You'll be happy to get stuck in and you won't be afraid of hard work. You'll have a genuine desire to build a career in farm management/growing/fresh produce and you'll be willing to learn.
