SALARY RANGE: £23,000 to £27,000 per annum depending on experience and qualifications.
CONTRACT: FULL TIME, PERMANENT
WORKING PATTERN: 37.5 hours on a 5 out of 7-day rota including evenings and weekends.

Senior Outdoor Education Instructor
This is an exciting opportunity to work with Entrust at one of our residential outdoor education centres in Staffordshire!
Entrust Outdoors has a fifty-year pedigree of providing high quality outdoor education for children, young people and adults, with the skills and expertise to deliver a wide range of outcome focused activities through their ‘Explore & Inspire’ ethos.
Entrust Outdoors has two residential outdoor centres in Staffordshire – Standon Bowers and Laches Wood. In addition to this, Entrust Outdoors has well established Duke of Edinburgh, Youth Programmes, NCS, Educational Visits Advice and First Aid departments. Entrust Outdoors also provides outdoor adventure activities for the British Army as part of their Soldier Development programme.
You will be an ambassador for Entrust Outdoors and play an active part in enabling and promoting the benefits of outdoor learning.
Our centre staff are all competent, passionate and active outdoor practitioners with some great experience and a wide range of qualifications, so you’ll be joining an excellent team!

Overview
Senior Outdoor Instructors are an essential and integral part of the centre team and provide the delivery of a variety of outdoor education and skills programmes, courses and events to a range of customer groups.
For this role, we would specifically be interested in anyone with or close to being an RYA Senior Instructor level.
Senior Instructors take a lead role in customer care and identifying and agreeing potential learning outcomes. They deliver these to the accepted business and national standards, and in line with independent accreditation and adopted guidance requirements.
They are an ambassador for Entrust Outdoors and play an active part in enabling and promoting the benefits of outdoor learning.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities
1. Be able to effectively plan and deliver high quality outdoor educational sessions with an emphasis on safe practice, learning outcomes and a high standard of customer service.
2. Take a lead role in looking after a group for the duration of their visit and giving excellent customer care.
3. To demonstrate high standards of professionalism and competence, sharing knowledge with other members of staff to ensure quality and develop others.
4. Deliver a full and wide range of both centre based and off-site activities.
5. Work as part of the team to ensure the centre, staff and customers comply with H&S requirements/regulations and local working practice.
6. Take responsibility for specific operational areas such as activity equipment, session content and contributing towards the creation and review of necessary risk assessments and operating procedures.
7. Support with a wide and varying range of general tasks to ensure the presentation and operation of the centre.
8. To further their experience in their range of outdoor activities both in and out of work time to fulfil NGB award and CPD requirements.
9. Be reflective in their practice, looking for continuous development and improvement in both their own and the centres provision of an outdoor education experience.
Person Specification
1. Has at least 2 years’ experience of delivering outdoor learning programmes.
2. Hold a range of National Governing Body qualifications covering activities such as climbing, walking, watersports and cycling but desirably in sailing at RYA SI Level.
3. Current and passionate in engaging in a range of outdoor activities.
4. Open, innovative, collaborative & effective in their working behaviours & underpinning values.
5. High personal standards in presentation, communication and delivering customer service.
6. Flexibility and adaptability: being prepared to work unsociable hours including at evenings and weekends and completing overnight duties throughout the year as necessary.
7. Fitness levels that enable you to instruct a wide range of activities in a variety of environments and all weathers.
8. We follow strict Safer Recruitment guidance in our employment processes; therefore we will require and check suitable references for this role and complete a new Enhanced DBS check prior to employment starting.
9. Has a Full Driving License.
10. RP/APIOL advantageous.
