ABOUT THE WORTHGATE SCHOOL
The Worthgate School offers an outstanding international pre-university educational experience to students aged 13+ from all over the world. Students study for GCSEs, A levels and University Foundation Programmes, and preparing for admission to universities across the country and elsewhere. We pride ourselves on our approach to teaching and learning, with small class sizes and an informal atmosphere ensuring that students are treated as individuals and build great relationships with staff.
TEACHER OF HUMANITIES (History and Sociology) FOR FEBRUARY 2025
Are you looking for a teaching role, where you can devote time to educating international students with the highest aspirations? Our student body is diverse, inspiring and ever-growing in number. Consequently, an exciting opportunity has arisen to teach within the Humanities faculty. The faculty has a collaborative ethos and contributes to many whole-school initiatives. In addition to offering the more traditional subjects such as History, Sociology, Geography and Psychology, students following the International Baccalaureate or our University Foundation Programme can study subjects such as Global Politics, International Relations and Environmental Systems and Societies.
We are looking for a teacher who can harness the international contexts of our classrooms and offer an inclusive environment for students to engage in dialogue and develop their academic skills. The ability to teach more than one discipline, across different programmes of study would be an advantage, with KS5 teaching available for the right candidate. Applicants should evidence a commitment to their professional development. There are opportunities for successful applicants to undertake the NPQ qualifications (Leading Teaching or Senior Leadership) with us, in partnership with UCL and multiple teachers enrol on these NPQ programmes each year.
For February 2025, we are looking for a person who has:
Subject specialism in History and Sociology, with a degree in a related discipline;
Interest in and knowledge of current global social issues;
A proven record of excellent and reflective classroom practice;
Responsive teaching strategies that incorporate high quality feedback and a focus on literacy;
Enthusiasm for continued professional learning;
Commitment to ensuring our students have an enriched, holistic boarding school experience.
This role would be suitable for experienced teachers, although applications from ambitious new professionals will be welcomed and considered.
