About our team
The Alfred Infant Child and Youth Area Mental Health and Wellbeing Service is friendly to infants, children, young people, and their families / carers. We provide accessible mental health services inclusive of family, friends, and support networks. We are a specialist, multi-disciplinary, and intensive care mental health service incorporating the lived and living experience of family peer specialists and youth peer workers.
Our service is divided into two streams: 0-11 and 12-26 years, and includes specialist services in the areas of perinatal care, neurodevelopmental presentations, eating disorders, and outreach support. What you’ll be doing
* The Alfred Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS) sector team is a multidisciplinary group providing care to children and adolescents (ages 4-24) and their families in the inner southern region.
* Services include referral, intake, assessment, treatment, case management, family consultations, eating disorders program, and mentalization-based therapy.
* The Team Leader promotes high clinical care in line with national standards and is part of the CYMHS leadership team, fostering innovation across services.
* The Team Leader ensures efficient resource management and leads the development of clinical and operational systems.
* The role coordinates referrals with intake clinicians and is a full-time permanent position based at Alfred CYMHS, Moorabbin.
About you
* Approved tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and eligibility for membership of AHPRA or the appropriate professional body.
* Ability to provide specialist assessments and treatments: individual, family, and group, for children, adolescents, and young people presenting with a range of psychiatric, behavioural, emotional, social, developmental, or learning problems or who are at risk of developing these difficulties.
* Extensive experience in providing mental health and alcohol and other drug assessments and intervention in partnership with young people and their families.
* Experience in leading teams and fostering a positive multidisciplinary team environment.
* Experience in working with a range of community agencies and ability to liaise with other service providers.
* Knowledge of relevant legislation such as the Mental Health Act and the Children, Youth and Families Act.
