SQM Senior Manager – Permanent This is a rare, exciting and varied role within the System of Quality Management (SQM) Team which sits within the firm’s Risk Management function. As an Associate Director, you will work across the entire firm interacting with senior stakeholders and be supported by leaders who have a strong belief in professional skills development. From day one, you will build broader experiences in a fast paced and dynamic team and organisation. This role has a primary focus on leading and executing the UK firm’s, and UK&I Region’s, ISQM1 Monitoring and Evaluation, although there will be a requirement to work closely and input into the testing and governance equivalent SQM leads, allowing for a holistic SQM experience. Monitoring and evaluation is a critical element of our ISQM1 work, is highly visible to senior and influential stakeholders through our governance forums, and requires interaction with key functions including Ethics and Independence, Risk Management and Professional Practice Group. The Monitoring and Evaluation lead will manage and coordinate across the firm to identify and analyze the key processes and results of the firm’s risk assessments, internal and external inspections, control findings and other critical monitoring and evaluation inputs to form a coherent and aggregated impact assessment of observations on our System of Quality Management. The role also encapsulates other, important aspects such as engagement with global SQM leads, engagement with member firm governance bodies and working closely with the wider professional practice and risk management functions, to accurately assess all monitoring inputs. Key aspects of the role: Staying abreast of EY Global SQM Policy Defining the SQM monitoring and evaluation approach Maintaining SQM monitoring and evaluation material and documentation and supporting those responsible in the business for relevant monitoring and evaluation controls Executing timely on the SQM monitoring and evaluation approach Determining the relevant topics for discussion by SQM governance committee (in line with SQM priorities, the SQM governance approach and ToRs). Organizing meetings with senior business and function owners to support in input monitoring and evaluation for SQM. For example, a very close relationship will be required with the Professional Practice Group and Root Cause Analysis team. Distributing high quality material in good time. This includes for governance meetings The work involves understanding and gathering relevant data sets (with information typically created by other functions and business units) and ensuring that these data sets are analyzed for SQM evaluation purposes Concluding on whether results of monitoring and evaluation of individual inputs, results in an SQM finding and/or deficiency. Where deficiencies exist, support may be required in engagement with the business on an appropriate quality improvement plan design. Although not the primary focus on the role, as an Associate Director, the role may include the overseeing of testing of higher risk, high leadership exposure controls. Experience And Attributes We are looking for an individual who has: Exceptional organisation and communication (verbal and aural) skills Experience of productive working with senior stakeholders A proven ability to think ahead, anticipate issues and can resolve these proactively Design related capabilities (typically in Microsoft PowerPoint and Word) and can produce high quality material, including for governance meetings. Written and verbal ability to convey key messages succinctly and exceed stakeholder expectations An ability to learn and apply knowledge in order to advise colleagues and senior stakeholders. Ability to recognize where efficient and improvements can be gained in the monitoring and evaluation approach. Ability to recognize any potential for automation / AI in an effort to improve and more effectively deliver on SQM monitoring and evaluation. Ability to confidently present findings at Governance Meetings. Proven success in managing and coaching teams. Other Considerations A significant amount of the monitoring and evaluation work centers around internal and external audit inspection results. To this degree, an audit background will be beneficial but not a pre-requisite for the role. As you will be working across the UK and UK&I region you will learn a remarkable amount about the firm.
