Community Psychiatric Nurse Development Post
Maidstone CMHT is a diverse multi-cultural team that is looking to recruit a band 5 Mental Health Nurse in a development post to work within the team, providing specialist mental health care for people with multiple and complex needs that require intensive support.
Band 5 community mental health nurse working with secondary services, the role is varied and will cover depot and clozapine clinics, home depots, and duty.
Carry out comprehensive, systematic nursing assessments which take account of relevant mental, physical, social, cultural, psychological, spiritual, and environmental factors, in partnership with the patient and others through interaction, observation, and measurement.
Work collaboratively with other disciplines, patients, and their carers to agree on a holistic person-centred care plan that addresses the needs identified through assessment.
To deliver and evaluate safe, competent patient-centred care in partnership with the service user and their carers to support recovery.
Main duties of the job
1. To act as a Practice Assessor.
2. To adhere to the NMC registration and revalidation requirements.
3. To adhere to KMPT's policies, procedures, and guidelines.
4. To support and behave in a way that upholds KMPT Trust values.
5. To assess, act on, and report any safeguarding concerns.
6. To optimise health and wellbeing; promoting self-care where possible, helping people to make choices about their needs and involve their carers where appropriate.
7. To safely manage, administer medications and monitor their effects.
8. To supervise a range of other staff and their activities as delegated.
9. To carry out specific duties relevant to the setting of community care medicines clinics, home visit depots.
10. Recording and reporting accurately any changes related to the patient's current behaviour and risks using redboard meetings daily or to team managers.
11. Recording care given in a timely manner as per professional and local standards using approved KMPT systems.
12. Promoting a healthy, safe, and secure environment by adhering to Trust statutory health and safety requirements and maintaining confidentiality of information at all times in compliance with Trust policies, procedures, protocols, and guidance.
13. Acting as a role model and supporting new team members through demonstration and explanation of tasks and techniques.
14. Undertake and maintain all essential training to role.
Person specification
Registered Mental Health
Essential criteria
* Current NMC registration
* Knowledge and ability to apply relevant legislative frameworks and policies relating to care, e.g., Mental Capacity Act
* Previous experience of working in adult mental health
* Previous experience of working within the NHS
Desirable criteria
* Previous experience of working in clozapine/depot clinics
* Completion of Edward Jenner programme
